In homage to the upcoming cinematic release of The Great Gatsby, the fashion world has been jazz-dancing its way towards flapper dresses, skull caps and long reams of glass beads to celebrate. This season it’s all about the 1920’s. The exuberance of the time is echoed in the period’s fashion with its jewelled drop waist dresses, scalloped and fringed edges, sublime sequins and, of course, beautiful head pieces. We all want a part of the affluence, hedonism and speakeasy mischief we associate with era so luckily for us it is not just the likes of Etro, Alberta Ferretti, Ralph Lauren and Gucci that have been inspired by it, the high street has been fully seduced too. I am a sucker for tassels and fringing so as you can imagine I ADORE this trend. There is no denying fringing is fun and fabulous, with so much movement it just makes you want to move your dancing feet… so pass the champers, get your jazz hands ready and let’s Charleston the night away… they don’t call it the roaring twenties for nothing… go glam, go Gatsby!
