Zip me up!!

No longer just a functional fastener, dresses, skirts, leggings, handbags and shoes alike are getting all dressed up with exposed zips. Who would have thought the humble zip, traditionally discreetly hidden under the fabric, would take to the forefront and create such a statement? Encouraged by the popularity of the grunge/rock-chick trend the former utilitarian detailing has found itself a staple in mainstream fashion.  Otherwise unassuming items of clothing are transformed by designers all over the world with the tough modern detailing. The effect is edgy yet sexy and definitely gives the feeling of being a little bit naughty! And all from the artistic addition of the basic exposed zip. The trend maybe slightly PG rated but the unexpected detail makes me, for one, want to snatch up whatever item it’s got its teeth into!
